that it's better to give than to receive?

And...what if you feel like you are the only one who's doing the giving?

i do believe it's better to give than to receive. if things aren't pretty close to 50-50 though, then i start to feel like a chump for lack of a better word and that i'm being taken advantage of resulting in hurt feelings.

Ah! The ancient riddle!! More appropriately I think you are implying, ( and I could be wrong ) Is it better to give without thought of reciprocation from the receiver? Which I would have to say yes it is better to give without thought of personal gain, but unfortunately that's just not how most humans are wired. Generally speaking, we humans, as much as we would like to believe otherwise, are little more than the most technically advance animal on the planet. Advanced, but animal all the same. As such, excepting some extreme examples, we rarely give without thought of being rewarded in some way. The ancient tradition of tithing to churches has it's foundation in the medieval practice of basically buying your way into heaven. If you feel you are the only one giving, and this giving is honestly done because you derive some personal pleasure from the act of giving itself, then it really doesn't matter if you are the only one doing the giving. If, however you feel slighted by the feeling that you are the only one giving, then I would suggest that you need to reevaluate your motives, and perhaps abstain from giving until/unless what ever it is you are hoping to receive becomes important to whoever it is that you've been giving to.

I do believe that it is better to give than to receive, and when it feels like I am the only one giving I start giving a little less and I go crazy for a while...but often times I am mistaken. It all depends on circumstances unfortunately.

yes, I believe that it is better to give than to receive, ultimately though it should be a two way street and you must be careful who you give to

It's always best to give than to receive, and I don't mind doing it for as long as I am able....

i'm a better giver than i am a receiver. i always feel like i have to reciprocate a gift. i'm used to always giving, but i expect nothing in return, but a thank you.

giving- it makes me feel better inside.
and if i feel that i am the only one that is giving....then that only means that I feel better and better each time I give...so ill keep on giving to feel even better.

(Bubbles tries hard to keep his comments clean on this one...)

It is more satisfying to give to another than receive.
Perhaps the best way is to both give and receive and the same time...
