I was so used to doing nothing while unemployed. How do I get used to the new environment and people and stay confident?

At first, it's difficult to adapt to the hours when you've gone a long time without having to follow a specific schedule. If you're worried that you'll become tired, make sure to get plenty of rest. That always helps to keep you alert and on higher performance. Make sure to stay busy, time always goes by faster when you remain active. As for your coworkers, don't try too hard to please, just be yourself while still remaining open to interaction.

Most people have a difficult time adjusting to a new job especially when they were unemployed. No one likes being unemployed. Everybody wants money. Therefore in order to adjust to the working hours that you have, just think about when you were unemployed. Did you feel like a productive member in society? Did you have enough money? Were you happy in that situation?
If you answered 'yes' to two of the above questions then it will help you to realise that having a job (regardless of the hours) isn't so bad after all.

As far as the long hours, you might want to start exercising a little at night (if you are not already). This should tucker you out for a good nights sleep AND give you extra energy during the day. As far as fitting in, just be yourself. Often times I think we try to behave how we think people want us to behave, but people can see that we're not genuine. Just be who you are, after awhile you'll get used to it and your comfort level will improve. You'll stay confident if you are true to yourself.

90% is all about staying positive.

All new jobs require a lot of learning, every day try to be one of the fastes learners anyone has ever seen.

Set goals. Week 1, learn everyones name. Week 2, do something nice for each person. Week 3 try to say something nice about everyone, and do something nice for each person.

Or, whatever you choose to set as your goals, just keep moving forward, patting yourself on the back for everything good you do, big or small, when your'e new, its all a big deal.

The other 10% is physical. Eat right. Sleep right. Wear comfortable shoes.

Congratulations on your new job!!!!!
