You know, of course, that this is wrong.
That said, if the envelope is the type you lick to close, the traditional method is to steam the envelope until that glue loosens. You either re-lick the envelope or use glue to seal it shut when you are done snooping.
Modern self-adheisive envelopes are trickier. Some people use a pin or a thin knife to run along the seal. It's usually hard to re-seal them convincingly, though.

the only way i understand of is to steam the envelope open. the warmth and steam are meant to soften and losen the adhesive used to seal the envelope. once you have looked at whats interior, steam it back and seal it back up. no longer helpful approximately this methodology yet, I particularly have heard others talk approximately it.

stick it in the freezer for an hour, it should come open without too much trouble.
