That's one of the oldest and most common of all internet scams. Most often called the "Nigerian Scam" since it orignally came out of Nigeria, it has fleeced thousands of people out of all the money in their accounts.
Essentially, they want you to give them your Account numbers, SSN, etc. so that they can "legally" transfer the money to you. Then, as soon as they get it, they immediately empty your account. Since they are in another country (usually without real diplomatic ties to the US), your money is essentially gone.
Just delete the email.

don't do it. they'll want your bank account numbers, or they'll say you have to send so much money to get the account numbers for that money, or somesuch. just avoid it altogether and report the email to whatever provider it came from.

They would not contact you through e-mail. Take the e-mail to your local police department. They can research it for you to see if it's valid. Do not give them personal information.
