bones (the fibula) had healed wrong and needed to be rebroken. WHile it is not as bad as my original injury, it still means a couple more weeks on crutches and at least 4 more in a fiberglass cast. Is this gross incompetence on his part for not noticing over two months?

no the doctor don't know how it is healing while in a cast. until he takes the cast off after 6 weeks and examines it. ..also another X - Ray will help. It can heal wrong. But its not the doctors fault...it is how the way your body heals itself. so all bones can heal wrong sometimes not the right way. the doctor did right here.

You could see a Medical Attorney, to see if Malpractise is stemmed from your delay's..... I'm sorry to hear you have to go through even more aggravations behind this.....However, something about the ankle area, being a fragile area when it comes to fractures, and so on.....I was hit by a car back in 2001 and listed as a "Jane Doe" in critical condition.... they had to operate on my ankle, and I ended up with a medal plate and screws in it,,,, well when we got back from our "Supposed Vacation" and I saw the bone doctor, because of the pain that I was having in my knee area, he noticed my ankle was infected, and made me go through treatments to try to get it from being infected......Well they didn't work, so he had to go back in to my ankle (Surgically) and remove the medal plate from my ankle... he said because my ankle was rejecting it.... And as far as the knee goes, you'd think the doctor's in California would have done an MRI on me, because I was hit on my left side, and had medal in my left lower arm, and left ankle plus a cast and staples all over my head and around my eye.... But, they never thought to check my knee!!! I mean my gosh my whole left side was effected by this and I was thrown 3 lanes over!!! Lo' and behold this doctor who had to take out my medal plate out of my knee also had to do "Orthoscopic Surgery" on my knee, because my ligaments were torn in half he said, so he had to replace them with tendents!!! So, you never can be to safe when it comes to doing a little investigating on your own, about this doctor!!! I'd look on Yahoo's Yellow pages, for Malpractise Attorney's!! If I were you!!! You may just have a case!! Good luck to you!!! Smile!!!

Yes, this doctor does not know what he is doing. But that is too late now, you need to follow his advice for now.
