The ABS light came on after the first really cold day that we had (-10f)and hasn't gone off. I am pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the brakes, maybe the sensor is bad?? If I pull the fuse for the antilock breaks will my brakes still function properly?

this is the first vehicle I've had with abs and I hate it!! Maybe it's not been working properly all along? It has always made a funny noise when engaging the abs.. sounding like a tight spring letting loose or something similar.
If/when i pull the fuse, will the dash light still be on?

It's not an "idiot light". Idiot's ignore the light. Go to a good shop or anywhere they have a scan tool that can read ABS codes. Once you find out what and how much, then make the decision to disconnect the fuse. ABS only work under full braking and if one or more wheels are sliding, so go back to careful braking until it's fixed.

If you pull the fuse their is a chance your ABS will not work, but normal brake functions will be fine. ABS is only anti-lock, and does not effect brake functions.

Check the brake fluid level. Have your battery load tested. Make sure your brake pads and rotors are not worn too bad. It could be a sensor. Take it to a brake repair shop and have them diagnose it.

With the newer brake platforms, if the ABS warning indicator comes on, it shows some style of element failure interior the ABS device. subsequently, it extremely is purely a relay. fix the relay and be completed with it. If the ABS device fails, you will nonetheless have your brakes, however the ABS function won't artwork. Your brakes will function like a motor vehicle with out ABS. newer autos with ABS will end accurately whether the ABS isn't functioning. it extremely is the way they have been designed.

one of the most common problems that cause that abs light to come on is the electronic brake control moduel (ebcm) failing.this is about 1000.00 to fix.it could also be wheel speed sensors.in either case, when the abs light is on,you don't have abs.but you still have normal braking.hope this helps.

YOUR BRAKES WILL WORK FINE THE ONLY THING IS THAT U WONT HAVE ABS, IS NOT SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT, YOU COULD CHECK THE SENSORS, ALSO CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL.

first of all, i use the phrase "idiot light" too, funny!! secondly, my abs light has been on since i bought my car used and i asked my mechanic and he said that i just don't have abs, but my breaking system is fine, we just have to pump our breaks now like in the "olden days"...i've just learned to live with the light being on, put a smiley face sticker over it...
