What letters are included in a monogram?

I'm creating onw for my wedding. Is the first letter of the last name in the middle?

You can usually do it however you want, my initials are KDW, so for monograming, I would do kWd, so yes, you are right, put your new last name initial in the middle if you'd like, then you could put your first initial on the left, and your new hubbies on the right, what a neat idea!!
