My son (living in Canada) may have to give up his dog, and I am willing to take her. I just needed to know what the paperwork was that I needed. Thanks!!

I've moved my dogs from Germany to the US and to Hawaii and every time they needed all their shot records updated, especially the rabies shot, and their 10 day physical for the flight. This could only be a max of 10 days old. This physical has to be done by a vet. If the animal is flying I would just tell your son to bring his dog to the Vet and tell him the dog will be going to the US and they will help with all the paperwork. Good Luck.

Generally speaking, all you need is proof of rabies vaccination.
Officially, you should have a certification of health from a veterinarian, made out and signed within 30 days prior to travel, but I have never been asked for this, only for proof of rabies.

This is providing when he brings the dog over, he doesn't say anything about leaving it with you ... I would leave that part out ... it may or may not make a difference, probably not, but no reason to mention it.

I travel back and forth with my dogs frequently, with no problem.
