My mom doesnt use make-up (skin condition prevents her from being able to do so) but I want to and I want it to look apporiate for my age. I know if you use the right shade it will look appoariate for a girl of my age. What can I use and how should I use it so it looks apporiate for me?

I think just as adults, the best make-up is no make-up. In my opinion by teaching our girls to put on make-up shows them they are not good looking enough and need to look better. we need to teach them that they are beautiful as they are naturally without any. show them that being themselves and accepting how they look is better than "putting on a face" for other people.

The show of real beauty is when you can walk out of your home and be proud to be yourself and who you are without having to hide or mask who they are.

Use colors close to your skin tones. When you're young, you totally don't need a thick foundation! Light eyeshadows like white, pink, pale blue, etc. look nice and not too obvious. If you have light eyelashes, some brown or brownish-black mascara makes them look longer & thicker (Great Lash by Mayballiene is great). Use a light blush on your cheeks for a rosy glow, or a little powder bronzer in the summer. For your lips, BonneBell makes a lot of fun lip glosses! Go for glossy and pretty. Good Luck!

13 is pretty young, but hey, if you and your mom are ok with it, here's what I'd suggest:

The key for now is fresh and youthful. You are (most likely) a pretty young girl, so there's no need to look like a night club vamp. Look for lighter colors to brighten your face. Remember, you have the glow of youth. You have naturally right now what women will be spending the rest of their lives trying to re-capture.

You want to enhance, not conceal. I'd use colors that are very natural to how you look already. Try to find colors that match well with your skintone, your hair, and your eyes. Don't use much foundation if you can avoid it. If you don't have acne, it'll clog your pores and give it to you, and if you do, it'll make it worse.

Look online for some makeup application tips and practice at home when you're not planning on going out. Once you become comfortable with your look, if you want to accent a little to complement what you're wearing, add (SMALL amounts) of the color to jazz it up a little...say you want to wear a green top, try a similar green eyeliner to bring it all together. Add sparkles here and there for fun, and a complimentary lip gloss adds a little shine without being too overbearing.

Also, if you haven't already, take some time in a clothing store and look at which colors look good next to your skin. This is one of the best things you can do to enhance your overall appearance.

Note:

When you try out different colors and looks at home, feel free to get a cheap palette with lots of crazy colors and have fun with it! You'll learn better what you love and what you hate and why--and you'll feel more comfortable incorporating daring colors into a natural look as you get more experience. But again. For now, when going out in public, keep it simple, fresh and natural.

Good luck and have fun!

i'm 13 and i wear make-up and everyone says i do a good job so i think i will be able to help you. First of all i don't use foundation bacause my skin doesn't really brake out much but when i do brake out then i cover up with a concealer that matches my natural skin tone (it's better to go darker than lighter) and sometimes use a light powder to make my face look a bit clearer. but i think you should avoid using foundation because your skin is so young now and using it can also clog your pores. I use eyeshadow on the lids using an eyeshadow brush but if you don't have one than you can just use the sticks that come in the eyeshadow cases. Try color that CONTRAST your eye color. like brown for blue eyes and blue, green for brown eyes. i have sortof goldenish light brown eyes so i use a golden color. and for green eyes use a dark smokey brown, purple shadow. you don't need to use a lot of liner but when you do use black brown gold or gray colors on the top and bottoms lashlines. then mascara on top and bottoms as well. last thing is lip gloss. that's all you need any color will look good. Remember that it takes a long time to get used to your own face so don't get mad when you can't do it right or something doesn't look good i started out doing my makeup bad but you will get used to it the more you use it. Good Luck! =]
p.s. have fun with it and make it look natural!

as a make up artist, i always recommend that you do not wear make up until you are at least 15 or 16 to ensure you are doing the best thing for your skin. as a teenager, your hormones are changing drastically and it will be reflected in your skin. therefore, give it time to breath and adjust. this will help you give your skin and beauty the best start.

you should start with a very good skin care regime. a good cleanser, toner and moisturizer with sunscreen. get the one that best suits your skin. oily skin and acne prone skin should still be moisturized. use a face scrub once a week and this will be a routine you will carry for life and help you maintain healthy beautiful skin.

if you insist on using make, i recommend the following for now: mascara, this enhance the look of your eyes and open them up. use a cheek stain like benefit's benetint. cheek stain is very natural looking and easy to use....dab a few dots on the apple of your cheek (smile and the chubby part is the apple) and then rub it in. it will make you look like you are blushing. you can build it up by applying more. if you cannot find this, try a nice cream blush that blends with your finger for a very natural look. top that off with a lip gloss. that will give you a very natural enhanced look. keep in mind that make up is suppose to enhance your natural beauty. too much make up is never attractive and most boys do not like it. you want people to see you and not your make up first.

Don't even bother with makeing up your eyes. If you have clear skin just do a shear coverage foundation, it's very light and gives skin the protection that needs. Mary Kay makes a great one! Then do a lip gloss. Thirteen is a great age, but don't over do it...let your young natural beauty shine through, ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN!! You can even throw out the foundation and just do a shear powder and lip gloss. I think that's good enough!

I didn't wear make-up until I was in the 11th grade, when I was 17 and I'm glad because I was a very active person who didn't have the time or patience to do it.

Pick-up basketball games, running through sprinklers on hot days, bicycle rides, dancing; these are things you can't do in make-up. You're still young enough to be a kid, so don't rush it, enjoy it.

I am now in my thirties and on the weekends, I just wear pressed powder, eyeliner/mascara and some colored gloss and let nature take care of the rest. I do this during summer concerts too and still get noticed by guys.

okay for 13 you should keep it basic:lipgloss(sparkle or none, your choice)pinks are always good and ther are different shades of pink so depending on wat your skin tone is you can pick the perfect pink shade for u, if you want mascara use a little bit in shade brown it looks more natural,or if you want eyeshadow go for young and pretty shades like a light purple or pink depending on what your style isbecause ther are sooo many ways you could go. to look appropriate just line the lid of your eye with an eyeshadow using the sponge wand applicator so it'll highlight your eyes but not be too overwelming. just remember to keep it light: the coverage and the color.

Nice, Just use lip gloss and some blush. The most important thing for your age is to "look natural" so anything that is not extreme will fit you ı believe..... :-))
