I am looking for ideas of things to put in a basket for new parents whose newborn is sick and in a Children's Hospital. I am trying to think of things that would make their time there more comfortable if that is at all possible. Thanks!

I like the idea of providing a nice journal so that they can write about their experinece, feelings etc. this journal can serve as a keepsake of their experience or can just be somewhere to write down their thoughts and let them go.
I also would suggest, phone cards, gas card, healthy food snacks, a gift certificate for a meal out at a nice resturant, also books both for them and the baby. This way when they visit they can read aloud to their child, I really like Love You Forever, The Giving Tree, The Promise and my daughter's (18 mths) favourite Sometimes I like to curl up in a Ball.
You are a very thoughtful individual to put together such a wonderful gift. I'm sure the parents will remember your gift for many years. Also my prayers are with this family.

I would maybe a gift card for something to eat..baby in hospital, i'm sure they dont want to leave but a gift card they could run and grab a bite to eat..thats if the mom is doin ok or you could give like a drug store gift card when the baby comes home the parents could use it for medicine or diapers

Change for the vending machines, cards, prepaid long distance card if they need to contact family, hot cocoa packets with mugs, chocolates, fruit, yummy snacks. I will say a prayer for thier sweet little baby! =)

Maybe toss in something to read so when the baby is sleeping they could let their mind escape a little. If possible.

personal items for if/when they have to stay at hospital/hotel, phone cards to call other family, change for vending machines, if you know why the child is sick, some info/brochures that tells about it.

Snacks, phone cards, gift card to like the gas station and mcdonalds,personal items like deodorant and feminine items... socks.... good luck and they will be in my prayers!
