It depends on many factors, your age, your cycle, when you ovulate, how your general lifestyle is etc. My husband and I were very lucky to conceive the second month we tried. The first month we did everything by the book, ovulation kit, lay down for 20 mins after sex, didn't drink, ate healthy, timed sex accurately etc. Im not saying you shouldn't do these things but we didn't conceive. The next month we didn't use the ovulation kit, I just roughly worked out when I was ovulating but we only had sex 2 days before that. I got straight up from bed afterwards and had a glass of wine. There is lots of good advice that you should follow but what I believed worked for me was being relaxed, I know thats easier said than done though. Visiting your doctor won't do any harm, may be able to give you some advice. Good luck and hope you get pregnant

My husband and I have been trying for 4 years now. You need to go get checked out and make sure everything is in working order. Also, go visit www.babyzone.com they have message boards there and the the girls on there are all helpful and supportive. I am on there all the time. Also use fertility friend. www.fertilityfriend.com it is free for the basic but the "VIP" costs. I just use the basic. also, if you aren't doing it yet, get a BBT thermometer and start temping. if you don't know how to do it, the girls on babyzone will help you out too but basically, get a bbt thermometer, and take your temp every morning before you get up or move or anything. Always at the same time every morning too. And chart it...that is where fertilityfriend.com comes in handy. They have online charts and they also send you lessons every week or every day and it will help you learn all you need to know! Good Luck and baby dust to you!

The following answer is going to contain TMI, but were all adults right?
I remember I went in for my yearly gyno exam back in Nov 05 and my Dr. told me that you can usually tell your fertile when you have a egg white type secretion, I guess that helps pull the sperm in. Sure enough I tried the next month and bam I was pregnant. I just had my little one back in August.
I found a more professional explanation here:
You can also detect ovulation by watching for changes in your cervical mucus, the fluid normally released from your vagina, says Dr. Board. "At the start of the menstrual cycle, this mucus is sparse, tacky, and dense, but around the time of ovulation it becomes increasingly plentiful and slippery, with qualities very similar to the white of a raw egg," she explains.

Anyhow, if you really want to conceive you have to start making changes as of now, such as diet and lifestyle.
Barnes and Noble have a lot of good books on conceiving too. I'll suggest this one. I read it and really liked it.

Not all couples have an easy time of getting pregnant. I would look into charting your temps and predicting ovulation for a couple cycles. If that doesn't work you may want to talk to an OB...some women don't ovulate at all (my best friend and her sister do not but with the help of clomid both are mothers)

me and my boyfriend started trying for a baby last march, every month i would wait for the best time to ovulate and we'd only have sex every other day. for 8 months nothing happened but in october i fell pregnant, unfortunately i had a miscarriage but i fell again in december, again lost that one so we're hoping 3rd time lucky. 2 much sex isn't good as it weakens the sperm, diet, stress, smoking and drinking all make it harder to concieve. I started taking pre pregnancy vitamins to boost my folic acid levels and to make me a little bit more healthy. good luck. don't try too hard , thats what i was told!

My wife and I have also concieved quickly but it can take couples 12-18mths to fall pregnant and this is perfectly normal. Try and use an ovulation calender ( u can find them on the internet) to find your most fertile days and see if that helps.... failing that then make an app for you and your partner to see your gp who may want to do some basic tests to see if there are any underlying problems. good luck

One of my high school teachers was trying to get pregnant, I have 2 babies so she was really open with me. She was trying for 2 years, I've graduated now but I went to the school to see her and she has a big belly now! Shes pregnant! She said her Dr. didn't want to force anything just yet and to keep trying and that's what she did. So just don't loose hope and remember sex is suppose to be fun, don't spoil it for yourself by worrying if your doing it right. Good luck!!!

Perhaps you are worrying too much about it and that's why it isn't happening.Try and focus on something else for a while and let nature take its course! Or you could try propping your bottom up with pillows for a while after intercourse so the little blighters don't escape!!(an old wives tale but it may work!!)
