okay so my parents went to go get me a game console from the pawnshop and there was only one in the pawnshop and the employee told them he is buying it for himself.....are they allowed to do that?

Oh yeah my parents said they had the xbox in the back room and it wasnt on the shelf....but it think the employee put it there.

pawn shops are usually mom and pop stores and they make their own rules ... if they dont like u they will try to rip u off and can refuse to sell u somthing ... they generally wont give u any return or guarantee on things they sell u either ... ur better off getting things new unless u are friends with the pawnshop owners ...

Yes, but it is not suppose to be on display. I would have told them to get it off the shelf if they aren't selling it.
