Despite all the negatives associated with our current administration, the United States is still the greatest nation in the world.....Why? The Constitution. There is no place in the world where a person has as many freedoms and personal rights than the US. We have a crummy government, but as Americans we are allowed to SAY out loud that we have a crummy government. w/o fear of reprisal. We can worship as we please, eat what we want, and have as many children as we choose. Women are looked at as equals, not subordinates, they don't have to hide behind a burka, or be subservient. We get to vote, all of us. We can come and go to different countries w/o getting permission form the government...etc....
Don't get me wrong, America has a whole myriad of problems, but they are not exclusive to our nation alone. Canada which is very close to our nation in almost every way, has the same problems, so does England, Australia, etc......

From the mouth of a teen aka me:
Opinion:"Bush is not the greatest. We are in a nonsense war. China might overthrow us as a world power."
The facts:
"USA is the most powerful country right now, since post-WW2. We have alot of freedoms other people don't have. Our governemnt can be screwed up. We can voice our opinions and take out the president(peacefully). We get to decide who rules us. We get new leaders every 4 years. We have powerful allies. We stand for justice. We're still young and learning. As a country. We have choice. We a bunch of dis-organized patriots beat England (powerful country) in 1700s.
We are not the best country in the world. There are other wonderful countries.
BUT we are the best to ourselves, because we are fighters and when we have a cause, we rally as a people to defend that cause. Because we believe and we are strongly United.
Ps these are my views. People are liekly to disagree.
PPS- our nation does have problems but i was trying to be patriotic :)

Because we have the most food. We have the best unaffordable medical system, we have best obese people in the world. We are the very best consumers of crap from everywhere else. We are the best at having no appreciable savings. We are the best at IOU's to other countries. We are the best at keeping our kids in childcare for 12 hours a day while we work. We are tireless workers and are the most content to squander our earnings on supersizing everything and at standing in long lines for Elmo dolls. We are surely number one in the world.

i don`t think we`re the best but it is the land of opportunity...and it`s very easy to make a living and a future. That if you are smarter then the average American and not lazy like.........anyways i think it`s very easy that's why if you want to get a job and you`re from eastern-Europe you will have to deal with some discrimination when you start working but once you learn the language and skills you just have to keep going sky is the limit....that`s what US have to offer

One big reason is the fact that the ungrateful, ignorant morons responding to your question with negative and even borderline treasonous things against the USA do not have to be worried about being thrown in prison or executed for spewing the crap they say about their own country.
They should go try that s**t in China, Cuba, Venezuela or Saudi Arabia and see what happens.

I have heard that one way to look at it is to see how many people are trying to get into the country vs. how many people are trying to get out of the country.
Name one other country that has as many people wanting to become citizens with as few wanting to leave the country.

Why do you say we are the best country in the world?
Our crime rate is high and our education is worse than even some developing countries.
