It has been two years for me. I am working my @ss off making this company money. We get free food and drinks (yes, of alcoholic nature) on Fridays, and I think they think that is a poor excuse for no raises. No one else here has received one either, in over 2 years.......

At my job we get reviewed once a year. We'll get step increases with the review (provided the review is good) if we're not already at the top step. Those of us already at the top step only get the annual cost of living raise, which has been about 2% for the last couple of years. That's waaayyy lower than the actual increase in the cost of living.

Every year we are reviewed and eligible for a raise. Only 15% of our employees do not receive one.

I wouldn't call 2 years excessive normally, but if you think 0 people have gotten a raise that is suspicious. Maybe they're not telling you???

Just an observation, any company that funds happy hours on Fridays has questionable management with questionable values anyway.

My advice to you is this: think about some tangible reasons why you deserve a raise. Articulate the value you bring to the table versus your peers. Let them know what development areas you have improved upon over the last 2 years. Then ask for a raise. Have an acceptable raise in mind in case they ask. Inflation is around 3% per year so you might use that as a starting point. Sounds low but over the years it compounds. Good luck.

The general rule-of-thumb for reviews (and applicable raises if they are warranted) is annually. This is calculated in different ways. It can be at the end/beginning of the calendar year, end/beginning of the company's fiscal year, or based on your anniversary date (the day you started with the company). If it has been 2 years, you definitely have the right to request a review. If the review goes well, then you can talk about a raise (or other compensation depending on the industry). Good luck!

I think it depends on the industry. It sounds to me like you may be a waitress or something like that. When I was a waitress, I had asked for a raise. They just about laughed at me. But what they did do was give me the best "sections" in the restaurant. But ever since I have been in the office environment, I usually get an increase 1x a year.

Well, let's see I've been at my company almost three years and have received one raise for a total of $500/year. Good stuff...

We get reviews and raises once a year. Reviews mid-December, then the raise starts on January 1st.

I got my first raise at 90 days, then a raise annually. That's not cool that you don't get a raise or commission of any kind, i would start job hunting!
