America could return to the intent of the founders...
Can you say Ron Paul and the Libertarian Party?
That would be my choice for a third National party.

I agree totally buddy. It would help to break up the existing oligarchy. I personally believe both the Republicans and Democrats are in cahoots as President Bush's "Bush Clinton Bush Clinton" remark suggests. But either way, a third party would help to keep politicians in line as they would have more competition for their job. How many of us have the luxury of getting a job that only two legitimate candidates are vying for? Having a third party is a great thing. Though I am not a person who agrees with Bill 'O Reilly very often, I hope he is right on his prediction that we will have a third part that is capable of winning offices by 2012. But, we can only hope. I'm afraid that the two parties that we have are bloated and undetermined to serve those who elect them to office and are primarily interested in feathering their own nest eggs.

America was founded by puritans; religious extremist with a supposed High sense of morality. Hence, american culture is a dual-state of mind: right, wrong, black, white, left, right, on, off, rich, poor, good, bad. There is ingrained in the american psyche a belief in two options. A third party would blur that line, it would introduce a middle ground into the political arena. Americans arent that open to indecisiveness. A third political party would break this idea of right and wrong, it would be an alternative. Historically, americanns seem to be all or nothing. A third party? not likely something that would last for two long.

As long as Americans keeps voting for the "same old, same old", nothing is ever going to change. Americans COULD rise up and say "Give us something different!", but they don't. People get caught up in the rhetoric of the democrats or republicans, and buy into their promises at election time. People need to get off the bandwagons of the past, and go for something new, but seriously, is this EVER going to happen? There is too much voter apathy, and too much of being wrapped up our own little worlds to appreciate the big picture of "what could be, IF...".

Or nothing would ever get done. We already have two parties in office, and look how it is going now. The legislature keeps passing stupid bills, and the President keeps vetoing them.
