Does Limewire really have dangerous downloads? I know it isn't illegal so don't put up stupid answers saying it is. But is it truly safe since it's free music? Plz only advanced computer users respond.

I've used it quite a bit in the past on my old roommates computer. He had a couple of viruses before we got Limewire. Then never had a problem with Limewire. We used it for a couple of years. You should be safe with something like sound files or songs. I wouldn't download programs or anything with an .exe attachment. That could easily have a virus in it. But music should be safe. Also keep in mind that the program isn't illegal, but trading songs techinically is. So never download copyrighted music. (wink wink)

I under no circumstances had a difficulty with Limewire till I downloaded a software and a perilous disease popped up (even though it become treated through my McAfee threat-free practices software). compared to different classes i have tried interior the previous (Moerpheus and Kazaa interior the early 2000's) Limewire does no longer have secret agent ware. persist with songs (mp3 purely) and video clips/videos (.avi purely) and also you should be ok. Run an anti-virus sweep now and again purely to be threat-free. acquire and percentage carefully and also you shouldn't be stuck or sued through some massive music or movie corporation. If it is been operating for a lengthy time period or i'm downloading rather some classes it ought to decelerate internet % to a move slowly. often times this retains even at the same time as Limewire isn't operating - although rebooting my cable modem continually receives the internet operating primary back.

most music is safe to download just make sure the song file isnt too small or too big because if it is then more than likely its just something else like ads for something else, not adware but ads from people trying to get you to go to their websites.what ever you do dont download any program file off of limewire because most of those files contain a bug that will cause limewire to constantly startup on its own with no end no matter how many times you shut it down and uninstalling it and then reinstalling it wont do any good because when you reinstall it it would still do the same thing.

I have been using Limewire for years and never had any problems whatsoever. Just to be on the safe side, before opening up any download (music, movies, documents) run a scan with your AV program on the downloaded files.

I know several people who have used it in the past and say that it does expose our computers more if we use it. I've never used it but was real nervous about someone wanting to email me a song they had downloaded from this site. Hope you get some real good replies to this one. If this helps my spouse rebuilds computers and says absolutely NO! LIMEWIRE! for our computer.

I was leery of it for the longest time and my cousin istalled it when he was here on vaca...long story short this past july i had to go get a new computer...had nothing but problems after installing it on my computer...and im very good about doing virus scans and scans for bots adware and sypware and other general maintanence on my computer...my old computer really went nuts after i uninstalled it...while using the program i was good about maing sure i was sharing files so no one could upload off me and if i wasnt using it to download i made sure the program wasnt running but i think it ultimately comtributed to the death of my old computer (but my cousin who installed it seems to never have had a problem so i dont know) guess its kinda like taking a gamble...

The very first thing I downloaded from that site had a Trojan virus linked to it, luckily my Norton detected it immediately. It was a Dora the Explorer game for my daughter. I would have to say no, use another file sharing site. I haven't had any problems with Morpheus.
