Mahalia Jackson was married at least twice:
In 1936 Jackson married Isaac Hockenhull, a college-educated entrepreneur. He encouraged her business aspirations but realized the great potential of her developing musical talent as a bigger source of income.
Just as a subsequent marriage in 1965 to musician Sigmond Galloway, Jackson's marriage to Ike Hockenhull ended in divorce.

Black Pearl" section of the Carrollton neighborhood of Uptown New Orleans, Louisiana, and began singing in a Baptist church. In 1927 she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she sang with The Johnson Brothers, one of the earliest professional gospel groups and was married to Isaac Hockenhull who had better education than her. She didn't mind.

I don't think she did, my daughter just did a report on her and we researched everything and I never saw anything about a marriage or kids. She was a very interesting lady!
