Nope, always get them replaced when they still have tread left and safe to drive on - no sense killing the whole family for a few hundred dollars.

Make sure of a couple of things. Tire pressure should be equal on all tires. The size and structure of the new tire should be like the other three, and also the tread design should be close. Do not mix radial tires with non-radials. To make sure if it's the new tire causing the problem, change the location to the tire to the other side of the vehicle and see if the problem changes or stays the same.

not unless you like to slide all over the place the next time that it snows or rains - when you are looking at your tires there are tread depth indicators that run across the direction that the tread is, when the treads are at the same height as the indicators it's time to change your tires - on a front wheel drive car you should rotate your tires every six months to get the most mileage out of a set of tires

No, don't wait that long. Rule of thumb is to replace the tires when you insert a penny (head down) in the tread and the tread doesn't make it from the edge of the penny to the top of Lincoln's head.

Nope. When the dime falls down, its time for new treads.

Only if I want to have a tire blow out going 70 mph on the freeway. That's kinda suicidal.

NO, when you notice that your tire thread is getting thin, then REPLACE your tires. For tires to perform correctly they need full thread. Less thread less traction. Less thread, MORE HYDROplaning. Stuff like this. So it can be or get dangerous NOT to replace.

I rotate my tires regularly. I also inspect them often. I know when they need to be changed and do so when necessary.
