Epilobium angustifolia.....or fireweed. Some seeds need the heat from the fire and/or smoke to germinate well and this is one where studies are being done. This is a lavenderish flower that gets about 3 feet tall and is aggressive. (cough, cough...dandelions are not wildflowers)

The is a plant called fireweed that grows after fire...it is a wildflower and is one of the first to appear..the seeds actually go through a dormancy and the heat triggers them to germinate. so, where you haven't seen any for a really long time, they will just appear.

sometimes forest fires promote new seedlings of certain conifers -the cones on some species need heat to open and to release the seed for propagation.
