I think Oprah was wrong for having that abducted kid on. It seems everyone in the media (defending their own...) is blaming the parents. That is a valid point, its like what are the parents thinking? But they were traumatized by the whole thing and their judgement is impaired, unlike Oprahs, but people in the media are saying things like 'The parents agreed to it - Oprah's just doing her job.'.

Which brings up a larger question - Is it ok to exploit children if the parents say its ok?

I say no.

No, I don't think it is OK. For any reason. I was interested in seeing the show, but I had no idea that she was going to have the children there. I can see the parents, but under no circumstances should the children have been. I was disappointed in Oprah for that. She can not blame that decision on anyone, as she makes all the decisions when it comes to her show. I don't think she should have been allowed to interview the boy at any time, until he is an adult and can make a conscious decision on his own. When she wanted to know what happened, and she said all of america wants to know what happened, It also made me angry. We ALL already know what happened, and it is dispicable what happened to him, and we do not need the fine details. I will still tune in to Oprah, because the majority of the time I think she does really good things. This time how ever, even Oprah had a lapse in judgement.

I was reading an article in People Mag about this. The kid seems to be really confused. All he's known for 4 + yrs is this monster. He pretty much lived in solitude and thought the world including his parents had forgotten him. The monster told him this.. and it seemed to be true. Now that he's home again.. I think he's just scrambled up. He's been thru so much and lost touch with his family .. he seems lost. I think it will take a lot of love and patience... Lot's of counseling of course. He will be OK. :) As far as Oprah.. she's a media person.. she does what she needs to for the ratings. Right or wrong unfortunately. The parents are very emotional... I think they should have waited awhile..

No, exploitation of children is NEVER OK. The parents, of this particular kid need to have their heads examined. This boy is going to need years of counseling, not a stint on Oprahs couch... Oprah is just doing her job, that's the sad thing. She would have no job to do, except that here in the US, tabloid TV is big business.... Oprah made herself into tabloid TV, the minute she invited that boy and his parents to be on her show. He hasn't even been home for a month.

I think perhaps,Missouri childrens services should look into the whole mess. They boy has already been raped and exploited, and his parents are allowing him to be raped and exploited in another way, by putting him out there in front of the cameras. It's sick. I bet they will be the first to ink a movie deal too.....The boy needs help, both in getting over his ordeal with the kidnapping, and with the ordeal his parents are exposing him to right now. Just my opinion.

I say no as well, if the child is old enough to know a little bit of whats goin on. The child should have a say so. Its not the parents authority to me. They haven't gone through what they went through. I actually have to say the psychiatrist should have sometin to say as well. But the parents did make a huge mistake. I cant believe they agreed.

I agree, Oprah showed her true colors by putting him on so soon. And the parents should be shot also.
But did anyone else notice, the mother looks like death and the kid, actually doesn't look all to excited to be home. Something isn't right about it.

I wouldn't place my child in that situation. However, it is not Oprah's fault. She didn't make the parents do anything.

No i did no longer watch it as i think of they're dreadful human beings and that i nonetheless carry my doubts on their version of what got here approximately that night to that undesirable little woman ,certainly if it truly got here approximately that night. i'm uncertain of any self sufficient man or woman that observed the wee soul that day, certainly seems she grow to be like a will o'wisp.
