playstation 2,
fully compatable with ps1 games
smaller, easier to controll pads,
more variety of games!
better games available, i.e metal gear solid 3, the GTA series, so on and so forth
smaller and more compact in design,
more sold worlwide than the xbox
games are relatively cheap these days, with the release of the ps3 imminent!
any games you get will be playable on the ps3, should you upgrade,,
this is just my opinion, and no im not a biasd ps fan, im a nintendo wii owner, but of these 2, id have ps2 everytime

I guess it all depends on what games you want to play. Pretty much any genre has more and better opions on PS2 than XBox. But, what if you want to play Halo? There's really only one option. Then again, one of the best games of that generation - in my opinion - Metroid Prime, is only available for Gamecube. So, there ya go.
However, like the XBox supporter pointed out: Microsoft isn't even supporting the system anymore, now that the 360's out. So, I don't even know why you would buy an XBox really.

I can't even give you every reason, so I will not start. But it is Better!
Xbox is no longer in production, as the 360 is taking over!
