This year, in DUBAI.. it has been freakishly colder than any winter I can remember.. Well 12 degree celcius may not a be a big deal in snowing countries, but in Dubai.. it is a HUGE deal...I had to wear 3 layers of clothing to college (which is btw in Academic city in the middle of a desert)..
Well anyways, I would have to say the rainfall patterns get affected by presence of trees.. coz of all the increased transpiration n evapotranspiration n stuff.. n u know we hav been planting trees a hell lot...
Global warming could also be another reason.. and since greenhouse effect is what is bringing about the global warming, yes that is also a factor.. These again influence the temperatures of the atmosphere, changing sea temperatures... so if there is more evaporation from seas, theres obviously going to be more rain..
Well... we juz need something to Blame.. dont we?

I answered a question like this a couple of times so I'll give you the same answer:
This is the effect of global warming which is caused by the burning of fossil fuels such as gas and coal and the clearing of trees. Clearing trees increases carbon dioxide levels and scientists believe carbon dioxide levels will double before 2050 to 750 parts per million.
And no, strictly it shouldn't happen but there are too many pollutants in this world. Some people however believe this is a natural process for us to get crazy weather which will eventually turn back to normal.
In fact, January 2006 was the hottest January on record in Toronto. I however believe this is nothing to freak about and some people *cough* tree-huggers *cough* are too concerned over this issue. One thing is certain however, don't expect too many white Christmases from now on.

Not 100% sure, but in the news i heard something is happening down near Centeral America. The weather from there is screwing everything up.
