You will most definatley get custody.

By the way, most men will threaten to take the kids from you. Judges RARELY give custody to the husband.....remember this, you have to be a pretty horrible parent to get your kids taken from you.....he is just a loser! The kids will for sure go to you- thats a given...............

Is there any prove that he is taking drugs and alcoholic, if so then you will have higher percentage to win the custody. Also do you have a steady good job, if yes then it is better. Before file for divorce, can you both go to see a consellor?? No matter who is right or wrong, at then end of the divorce it will be the kids suffer most not the adults!

I would talk to your family doctor, so that s/he knows what is going on. You will need the support of community and family members, as it is not a pleasant road. It sounds like you would receive custody. You would be wise to see a family lawyer who could advise you of the best steps to take, costs, and factors involved in arriving at a separation agreement. A peaceful home for you and your children is the ultimate goal. Finally, if you are not going to Alanon already, I highly recommend it. You will find people who truly understand and who have walked your path.

Before you file for divorce you need to get his violence and abuse on record. When he starts to act up call the police and FILE CHARGES. Get a record of this behavior so the judge will be able to consider it when deciding who gets custody. Don't hesistate, a flying piece of furniture can kill a child.

If it can be proven he is a rather violent drunk, chances are you'd get primary custody. Do you have witnesses or family that have seen him this way? The more evidence the better. You need to speak with a family law attorney and review your scenario and get a proceeding rolling.

If he's as nasty as described, it is necessary for you to get yourself and your children out of that situation.

You have to ask yourself what will happen if some of the furniture he throws hits you. You could get hurt badly or worse. It's time to get a divorce. You should get the kids. They need to be away from his abuse too.

Obviously this man doesnt deserve you. if you want your marriage to work you should encourage him to get some sort of counselling, talk to him and let him know that you cant stand the way he is operating. you said you filed for custody, yes i think you will get your child cause he is alcoholic, and if your children knows the situation you are in they will even yeild to you.

You need an attorney to document this and present it to a judge if you file for divorce and custody of your children.

i hear ya! i also live with an alcoholic , i try my best to get him to stop drinking but he always manages to get it from somewhere/someone.
i'm lucky we have no children , but the stress is still there.
you would probably get custody of your children plus child support off him. i would suggest you have a restraining order on him if you decide to leave...for safety reasons.

good luck. :)
