According to modern day science they have absolutely no affect on life. If you believe the astrology of 2000 years ago, they control your evey waking moment. I prefer the scientific opinion.

There is no connection.

Astrologers would have you believe there is a connection, but the constellations as we define them are just conveniently defined. Had someone wanted to (many years in the past) they could have grouped them much differently, and they would then have different shapes and sizes than they do today. Basically the constellations were arbitrarily defined to look like things common to us, but they could have been defined differently to look like other things. Or, they could have not been defined at all, just known as stars in the sky.

I wonder: how can two astrologers pass each other on a sidewalk and not burst out laughing?

It doesn't effect us in the slightest.

Astrology is bunk.

You should also remember the definition of a constellation is arbitrary anyway - they're not (as they were thought when astrology was invented) stuck on some celestial sphere - they're out there in space and so they wouldnt look the same from just about anywhere else in our galaxy. The fact that people continue to believe in it after this was proven is the height of wilful ignorance.

Not in any way whatsoever. Constellations are made of stars that are tens or hundreds of light years away.

One can learn a lot about human existence from the mythological parables that have been derived from the existence of constellations.

Constellations are also an interesting and ancient tool for humans to tap into their imagination.

It's more of the effect of mythology on man, and man's desire to make sense out of random patterns. If you're asking about astrology, it's bunk.

They inspire people to paint paintings, build observatories, and write stories about imagined (but non-existent) connections between the stars. *shrug*

They do not affect us. They are just areas of the sky.
