I would stay at the Banys Orientals, the area is one of the coolest ones in Barcelona. Hotel Cram is also really nice though the location may be not that good. Definitely: Banys Orientals in the Born/Ciutat Vella area.

Can't say. I have not been in either place.

When I go to BCN, which is several times a year I usually get my reservations off http://www.bookings.es There is a map to pick the place off of, and guest reviews for each hotel.

Hotel Cram has good reviews on bookings and the location is not bad.

I could't find Banys Orientals on that site.

Good luck and enjoy BCN.. what a wonderful place!!!!

Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for information on hotels etc.
