I want to connect my new HP laptop to my tv and i have found i can do so through the external VGA or s video. Which is going to give me a better quality image? Which one would you recommend. I'm a newb when it comes to connecting a laptop to an external device so go easy on me if this is a stupid question....thanks a lot

for people that who don't know, lemme make it clear, the cable that you use to connect ur display does have a role on your screen,

composite cable and svideo are the worst and low quality,

vga and component are the middle quality,

Hdmi and the DVI are the best and superior of all that carry
exelent picture quality.

if don't believe me , do some homework and you'll thank me.

Of the two S-Video is the superior quality image. VGA is standard, S-Video is more updated (better shielding). For future reference: In order of increasing quality.

VGA > Coaxial > S-Video > Composite > Component

VGA is better that s-video you will also want to make sure that you set the VGA out to a TV under the display properties in Windows too. This will set the screen frequency to 60mhz - which is what your television operates at (assuming you are in the US - otherwise 50mhz).
