I am thinking about getting another guinea pig to keep my other one company..... I have had the one for about a year-and-a-half.... and I want to go buy another one..... would the older one hurt the baby..... I called the pet shop and asked about breeding but thats not what I am getting one for..... its kinda confusing..... cause at first I wanted babies...they said the male should be about a year or older...... so I guess I have TWO QUESTIONS....lol NUMBER ONE...... would it be ok to put a (younger male) guinea pig in with my (older male) guinea pig.... and NUMBER TWO... if I decide to get a female..... how old should she be!??!?!

How long does a guinea pig usually live?

You can't really put males together unless they are brothers, they are to aggressive towards each other. The males are very territorial so if you wanted two males they would have to be brothers or bought from the same group at the pet store. Other wise they could kill each other if you tried to put a younger male in with an older male. As long as you play with your guinea pig, hold him and such, he will not get lonely, depressed and live a happy healthy life.
And for you number 2 question I would advise you to talk to your vet about breeding as there is a lot of work involved in it. And also problems that you should be aware of, such as sicknesses that can be genetic. So if you are serious about breeding talk to your vet and get a better understanding.

Hope this helps and good luck.
