It is easy for some babies to become too dependent on their pacifier. You may have to try to wean her away from needing it so much, especially to sleep. During the day, don't be so quick to put it in her mouth as soon as she starts to fuss. Try distracting her some other way. Hold her, take her to another part of the house, talk to her, show her a pretty picture or an interesting colorful toy. At night, let her fuss a bit before going to help her find it.

I know how you feel, my 8 month old does the same. Your baby is looking for comfort while sleeping, so I would suggest something you can give your baby like a teddy bear or a soft blanket. I use a fleece blacket that he curls up with and this helps, otherwise your forced to play night watchmen over a pacifier. Good luck.

Throw out the pacifier!!!!! They are terrible things to put in a baby's mouth and they create a dependence on a physical object for soothing that they on their own need to develop to have an undisturbed sleep cycle. Once you get your baby off the pacifier she will be able to sleep through the night by herself. Having your baby develop her own independent sleep abilities is worth the fight to get her off the pacifier that is now about to ensue!

good luck

As an experienced mother one thing that you can do is gradually remove the pacifier from her. She will get used to not using it eventually. Meanwhile, there are clips that can be attatched to the pacifier and to the cloths that you can use. Make sure that the string is short so she will not wrap it around her neck. It can be one that is maybe 10 inches long and attatch it to her night shirt. Do not use a pin, maybe a soft clip or a paper clip. Hope that helps

Try letting her fall back to sleep without it. If the baby is just up and stirring around she will be fine. Otherwise you will be up all night for a long time putting it back in.
