I like irish music and Meav is one of my favorite musicians. i've always thought her name was pronounced MAV (as in queen Maeve) but i've heard it pronounced MAVE (rhymes with glaive) which is right? not that it's a super importnat matter, but i was just wondering.

I have a friend by the same name and I have always pronounced it as May - v (one syllable with a long "a" sound), like brave or cave. If you go to the web site listed above (and now below), it reads that the Irish pronunciation is this way.
