Human nature too evolves just as the species itself does with time. In any case, nothing at all can be constant over a long enough period of time.... time is defined by change.

We in fact do have a basic nature. If we didn't, why would EVERYONE eat food? Why wouldn't some get food from photosynthesis from the sun while some got food from the vents at the bottom of the sea?

Why would everyone sleep and dream?
Why does everyone need water?

There are many things people have in common by being alive and being human, and from these a human nature can be considered.

Things that separate us from animals, like the use of reason, is another way in which we all have a common human nature. Now, some might be stupider than others, but that doesn't mean they don't have reason, just that they use it poorly or aren't capable of fully using it.

So, even though to talk about a human nature you have to be rather broad, the more you think about it, the more it seems likely that there is one.

I'm not to sure what human nature IS, let alone whether it is constant. Certainly there are certain patterns which history seems to follow, on the other hand there also appears to be a lot of change. So probably not but possibly yes.

I believe the core of human nature is constant. We are a species who wants to help those around us. We are good parents and nurturing Friends. This has allowed our species to thrive. Even most "bad people" have done their evil deeds in an attempt to do good.

Over the centuries we have struggled at times to overcome our base needs and be true to our nature. However, the out pouring of assistance to disaster victims is glaring evidence to me that mankind is and unselfish species.

nature will be constant until the day the world ends and everything is at rest. as long as there are inhabitants to this earth, they will bring a constant change to other living species and to nature itself. as nature will in turn continue to change the world we live in.

No, the only thing that is constant is the change. And Love between soul-mates.
