Dear Brenno - Well here is the definitive answer to your question. The United States has been experiencing El Nino type weather for the past two months. This has meant heavy precip along our west coast and as far east as Colorado and south into Texas. For the east coast it has meant warmer than usual temperatures and little precip. It has only been in the last week that this pattern is showing change. The Polar jet stream which over the Pacific dips south in response to the change in near equatorial ocean temperature changes is the culprit for the weather I have described. It is now much more zonal (west to east flow) over the eastern Pacific with a large trough over the central US. So we are beginning to see significant and perhaps a return to more normal winter conditions over the country of the Free.

the US is a big place. Weather varies alot from place to place. The North East of the US has seen a very warm winter this year. Temperatures have been well above normal and there has been virtually no snow untill just the past couple of days. Other portions of the country have seen record snowfall.

I am in Ohio and we have about 3 inches and it is 27 degrees, not too bad though, first real snow of the year so it looks pretty.

I don't care, just send the rain to central Texas. We are in a mother of a drought.
