So the weather here has been oober bad. && I work 20 min away from home. Well last night when i got off at 10, (i actuallyg ot off at 9 but didnt tell my parents) i locked myself out of my running car. I knew if i told my parents they would be pissed off and I knew they were waiting up for me. So while I waited for onstart to get there I texted my step-dad and told him my friend that I Worked with had got locked out and I was letting him sit in my car until onstart got there cause it was freezing rain last night. normally if i get off work at 10 i get home around 11 - 11:30 but last night I Got home about 12. and he was really pissed bc he waited up but he is normally up that late anyways. but i dont know why. he said even tho iwas being considerate of my friend I wasnt being considerate of him staying up waiting cause the roads were icey and he wanted to make sure I got home ok. Did I do the right thing by lying what should I do now?

Lying is bad, but in this circumstance, I think it is a bit unfair that you got told you were being inconsiderate considering he stays up that late anyway. To be thinking about whether it was right or not shows you have a conscience which means that you are normally a good person so I think what you did was fine.

In a sense no. You should have just told him that you got locked out. Since you lied already, what's the use in changing your story?
