My daughter is 11 and at her private school, they only have homework if they don't complete the work in class. I did find when my daughter was in public school, she had too much homework and it actually affected her home life because it seemed all she did was homework. I agree to a point that a child should have homework but there is such thing as too much. Homwork review is great but giving a child 2 hours of homework every night is too much, it seems like the teachers just want to put the extra work on the parents.

Yes. Here in Denmark children get homework from first grade - about 6 years old. The amount of homework then increase as they get older. And this is the age where the children actually want to learn. I have a cousin who started school last year, and she was so excited when she got homework the first time. She was learning about new things, and getting homework made her feel older, and cool. Children are eager to learn - take advantage of that, and let them learn as much as possible.
That being said, children also need time to play, and just be children, so I think the amount of homework needs to be moderate, and not overwhelming. Just enough to keep them curious.

Absolutely! Children should learn the responsibility of homework at a very early age. It helps to prepare them for High School and College, which help to prepare them for the responsibilities of the "real world."

yes i believe all children should have some form of homework i think the schools give to much and children are in school all day so sometimes to come home and have to do homework after a long day at school i dont find it necessary but it is important to keep thier minds thinking so they continue to develop into bright men and women

Absolutely. Not the same amount as a high school kid, obviously. But if they have no homework up until high school it will be a huge culture shock for them to start having a tonne of homework.

Of course. My daughter is 5 and she has homework. Don't worry, homework is nothing compared to the real world waiting for you out there.

Yeah, definitely!! But, having said that, my youngest son who is 6 gets homework every week, and my 11 year old, hardly ever gets any, which annoys me. The 11 year old wouldn't lie about not getting any either, hes really good at school, haha! :-) xx

Yes they should, and it helps to get you prepared for High School, but not tons of homework where that all your doing when you get home. I mean goodnees you just had what 7hrs of learning LOL........ I think homework should just be for review and if you didnt finish your class work.
