Yes. Antibiotics can reduce the effectiveness of the pill. It's best to use a back-up form of birth control until you've gone off the erythromycin and started your next pill pack.

There is no direct chemical interaction.

However, it WILL make your pill less effective; your pharmacist should have advised you about using back-up for the duration of your antibiotics plus a 7 day window after you finish. It will also outline this in your info leaflet (that comes with your pills).

Definitely use a back-up method of BC for as long as you're on the antibiotic!

Yes, any antibiotic is likely to affect the contraceptive pill and stop it working. Speak to your GP but definitely use alternative contraception whilst taking the antibiotics or whilst you have any sickness or diarrhoea.

it won't react with the pill but it is advised that you take extra contraceptive precautions whilst you are taking antibiotics as may affect how effective the pill is. not really worth taking the risk.

yes, it definately will minimize the effectiveness of the birth control pills.
