will it work in my home pc motherboard if i have an asus? the stick of hp memory is ddr3200 184 pin the same as i currently have in my motherboard. is there is a difference because its server memory?

Well, server RAM tends to be ECC and registered FB-DIMM, and almost all desktop motherboards don't support this. I'd try it, but most likely it won't work.

Some server RAM may not work with Desktops. I would just find RAM that is specific for Desktops. I ran into this problem trying to use IBM Server RAM that I had left over, in a desktop.

it should work. if it doesn't it'll just say 'incompatible memory error' or something during the post, or it won't boot up at all in which case you know what the issue is...so just pull it back out.

or it may catch something on fire.
