There is corruption in every country. the difference with Nigeria is that it is so blatant and what is amazing is the number of otherwise intelligent people who are conned by it

Nigeria is not the only corrupt nation in the world, and I doubt that any reasonable person would think it is!
Nigeria is widely regarded as a centre for on-line scams - the 'nigerian scam' is legendary in the world of the internet.
I cant think of any other unique qualities of Nigeria.

Of course Nigeria is not the only corrupt country in the world,just one of the worst. Other places like Myanmar (Burma) may well be worse.
One of the problems is that countries which were formerly held up as an example of probity (like the UK) have now come to be perceived as having 'sleazy and dishonest' governments.
So the attitude is,"What's good for the goose is good for the gander".

The vast majority of country's around the world are corrupt and that includes the free nations as well although not nearly as blatantly or to the same extreme extent.

It is the 5th largest oil producer in the world and the largest exporter of oil to the US? Otherwise it is just like every other corrupt nation in the world: gangs, militias, no law, dictators, mass poverty, lots of AK-47s, kidnapping, rampant crime, environmental disaster area, mass iliteracy, disease, no clean drinking water, etc........

Corruption, scams and general dishonesty are not peculiar to Nigerians - but they are probably just about the worst offenders.
