Single cell-organisms that can be prokaryotic, such as bacteria, or eukaryotic, such as yeast and other types of fungi. Some algae are also uni-cellular (1-cell organism). Some of this organisms can live either as separate entitites or in colonies. An example of the latter is the Dictyostelium discoideum.
