i have a "b" vent decorative gas heater--lp.

just replaced the thermopile

pilot will stay lit forever

as soon as i try turn on the unit , both the burner and pilot shut off.

tested the spill switch---seems fine

stove will burn for aprox. 15-30 seconds then both pilot and burner shut down.

thanks in advance for any help offered!!

I would check to see if the valve is loose on its shaft. Perhaps it is indicating wrong, and when you turn it to ON it is really going off.

There is a thermocouple that sits usually slightly above the pilot flame. Make sure the pilot is hitting the TC or the flame will go out like you said. Check and make sure the wire from the TC is not damaged where it hooks up. If all that looks good you need a new TC. Get the same one from stove company. If flame is to low and dont hit TC correct ly could be a gas PSI issue or pilot flame adjustment!

You replaced thermocouple? If that didn't do it--is main burner blowing out the pilot when you turn it up? If it's not these issues it's either a safety switch gone bad or the gas control unit.
