The politicians have very slach in addressing climate change. A few years ago many scientists believed that climate change was a lot of hog wash. The majority don't believe that anymore.
Polar bears in the north are already struggling. They require strong ice flows to survive because they can't swim very far. They need to climb up on the ice to rest. Many are drowning because of lack of strong ice.
As predicted the weather is changing. The violent storm on the west coast have been increasing. Vancouver has seen more rain then ever and the drinking water was fowled for weeks - this is unheard of.
In central Canada the winter was so mild the river, which normally is frozen over to safely walk on, wasn't safe until Janurary. The same with the Rdieu Canal which boasts the longest skating rink was open water.
On the east coast the weather didn't show a dramatic change though there were more storms then usual/
EVIDENCE OF HUMAN CAUSES
"It is very likely that anthropogenic (human) greenhouse gas increases caused most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century".
The IPCC says "very likely" means at least a 90% probability. The 2001 report said it was "likely" that human activities were the dominant cause of warming in the last 50 years, or at least a 66% probability.
"Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, melting of snow and ice, and rising sea levels."
It is likely that greenhouse gases would have caused more warming in recent decades but were partly offset by dust from volcanoes and pollution which reflects heat back into space.
FUTURE PROJECTIONS
Temperatures are likely to rise by 3.6°F — 8.1°F above pre-industrial levels if carbon dioxide concentrations are kept at 550 parts per million in the atmosphere, against about 380 now. The "best estimate" for the rise is about 5.4°F.
The warming is very unlikely to be less than 2.7°F. Rises much above 4.5°C cannot be ruled out but those computer projections do not fit well with observations. Main uncertainties are whether more clouds will form in a warmer world — and bounce heat back into space.
The report cites six models with core projections of sea level rises ranging from 11.0 — 16.9 inches by 2100. That is a narrower and lower band than the 3.5 — 34.6 inches forecast in 2001.
It is "very likely" that extremes such as heat waves and heavy rains will become more frequent. Arctic sea ice could disappear in summer by the latter part of the 21st century in some projection. Warming is expected to be greatest over land and at high northern latitudes, and least over the Southern Ocean and North Atlantic.

why do politicans lie to us concerning the enviornment, do they not know about evolotion?
--------------------------------------------
not the creationists that's for sure.
the earth has gone through climate changes for eons politcians
use this to gain votes shame on them
--------------------------------------------
yeah but the amount of Carbon gas in the air is rising rapidly and is much higher now than it has been for hundreds of thousands of years and it is causing a gradual rise in the base temp of the planet. !.4 degrees so far. It could head to plus 8 degrees. If it gets to 3 degrees all the permafrost in cananda will melt and New York city would be under water bc the oceans would be 10 feet higher

You are right. The earth is capable of releasing more greenhouse gasses in 30 minutes than all of mankind can in a year. Ultimately the global reasons behind being eco-friendly will not motivate any significant changes. People will however be motivated by more local environmental issues.
Politicians will do anything to get elected.

ITA. it is the height of arrogance to assume that we could have such a monumental affect on a planet, that's been here for how many millions of years?
if you believe in the bible (or whatever other religious text), then you know we can't do anything to the climate anyway- it's all God's doing. if you don't believe, then you can't swallow this pack of nonsense, just because of the sheer age of this planet and the many, many climate changes that have come and gone.
it all comes down to money. the researchers get money for their research so it's in their best interests to get "findings" that agree with the need for research. those findings are naturally that it's our fault, because if it's NOT our fault, there's no point in researching it because we couldn't stop it anyway. what a rip off.

Politicians lie for one reason only. Alright, two. So they can continue to use power for their own ends. Sometimes those ends are just greed, hence the large number of politicians getting very wealthy indeed; as Mandelson described his ambition, "to get filthy rich"; sometimes the ends are to promote their ideologial causes, convinced their particular point of view is the right one, and even more convinced that everyone else should be forced to follow it.
Government, both local and national, is like a cancer; in several ways. First, it just grows and grows, gets bigger and bigger. We now have Town Halls that employ up to 12,000 people - at taxpayer's expense of course - while the number of MPs goes up and up too. Second, it eats away at society, consuming vast amounts of resources to feed itself. Hence tax goes up and up, and we now have record numbers of people in debt, partly as a result of that. Also, government destroys people's lives; either through impoverishment, or through war or through sheer petty bureaucracy. Hence the other real reason politicians lie. They don't want you to see that.

Politicians do just as they want to and no one will ever stand up to any of them to prove that they lie and steal for everyone and the more they get away with the more they will lie and steal from the world.
But ask them to work for world peace and they give every excuse they can come up with as to why they themselves can't do anything about it but as for telling us that the environment is safe and expect us to believe them is shameful for all of us because we do not dispute what they claim so we are just as guilty as they are because we should stand up to them and tell them all that we have had enough of their bu*l-sh*t and we demand the truth for once.
This is my opinion and I may get blasted for it but ask if I care.

They are very superficial and short-sighted. For politicians, it's the hear and now. They will say what it takes to get elected. The same way sales people will say what it takes to close the sales. Overly ambitious with no regard for the environment, humankind, only themselves.
