I want to answer this question honestly, but I just checked your question history, and noticed a particular slant in your views.

Some times truth will lose out to rhetoric so it seems pointless to even try and be honest and reasonable.

But I will give it a shot.

What happened to the "Kinder, Gentler America"? it cant exist since its own people are incapable of rational debate. how would you expect any country to live in peace if it can not even have a fair discussion amongst it's own citizens.

Every one cuts out a side of an argument, they fight tooth and nail, use slander, insults, falsehoods and bias to prove their points rather then logic, common sense and reason.

The other reason ther is no "Kinder, gentler America" is because the world is not ready for one.

If we sit around discussing what to do, the world asks "Why didn't you act?" if the US moves aggressively to tackle a problem then the world asks 'Why do you use force?"

If you want to know where it all went... look around... look for every one who is biased, arrogant and unwilling to shift their ideas to find common ground. you will find that ideal is something they are not willing to strive for.

By the way, I am sorry for the loss of your son.

Destroyed systematically between 1993 and 2001. Clinton's politics of personal destruction of his opponents, plus the Democrats' refusal to punish Clinton's crimes made the divide between the parties too great.

In January 2001, the 43rd president reached across the aisle to seek bipartisan resolution of the issues facing America, and near had it bitten off.

It's hard to have kinder and gentler when half the country acts nastier and fouler.
