Read the book. It is MUCH better than the movie. I know a lot of people say that... but it is true in this case. The movie totally dumbs down Hannibal's character (even though Hopkins is amazing). I read the book right when it came out, and was diappointed when the movie finally came out. The movie really downplays just how dangerous, and inherently evil Hannibal is.
This is all presuming you mean Hannibal, and not the new one "Hannibal Rising" which is about how he "became" what he is/was in the three books (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and finally Hannibal). I have heard terrible things about the book Hannibal Rising though.

If you are talking about the new movie Hannibal Rising and are a fan of bloody horror films then I would say yes. If you are a fan of physiological thrillers like The Silence of the Lambs, then I would recommend not going. I am not going to see it. One of the main reasons I love TSOTL is because of the relationship between Hannibal and Clarice. I own Hannibal (the 2nd movie) and although Julianne Moore is my favorite actress I still like TSOTL better. In the second movie the relationship between Clarice and Hannibal and changed. He is pretty much obsessed with her in Hannibal... it was not like that in the first one. I have not seen Red Dragon but I have no desire to either. What I don't like about the new one is it takes away the mystery about Hannibal Lector. Although we learn a little about his past in the book Hannibal I still don't think it would be interesting to learn how he became the way he did. Hannibal Rising sounds like an entire different genre the the other films. No one can play Hannibal Lector better than Sir Anthony Hopkins!

Yes, definitely. if you are just the slightest bit into that kind of movies you will love it.
Anthony Hopkins is amazing - I still think Hannibal is the best role he's ever played. He does it to perfection.
Watch it, get chills, and enjoy the perfection.

you should. this trilogy is really good. silence of the lambs is a perfect thriller. hannibal and red dragon are good movies too.

the other films "silence of the lambs" red dragon" hannibal"
are great films the new one has a lot to live up to but should be equally good, i'm going to see it as soon as it comes to my local cinema.
