Is it wrong to want to have a kid with my girlfriend, but not really want to get married? The idea idea of being a dad is much more appealing to me than being a husband.

No there is nothing "wrong" with it as long as you are willing to own up to the responsibilities of being a father. Before (and during) my marriage I would have had a dozen kids, I just didn't want to get married to do it. Consequently I have an only child....Marriage and having children don't always HAVE to go hand in hand as long as both parties are willing to face their responsibilities.

I would say yes. Sounds to me you just like the thought of being a daddy.
But out of wedlock is a bad idea. Because then when you decide that you don't want to be with her anymore or vice verse then things are no good. And that kid has to deal with the fighting and stuff between the two of you. If you married her first you at least can learn to work on your relationship before there are kids in the mix.
Cause when it don't work out between you and her after the kid is born, and she finds another man, how are you going to feel having your son or daughter calling another man daddy?

If your relationship is stable and you two are financially stable there is no reason why you shouldn't have children. I don't believe that it is wrong to have a child before marriage if both parents are ready and committed not only to the idea of being parents but to each other. You don't' have to be married to show commitment.

If both of you are say in your 30s or have BOTH been married before--you can make that decision yourselves.
Much younger than that it would be wrong--and cheating both of you--not to marry, have the love, have the child, share the responsibilities, doing it right.

you can't have your cake and eat it too. what does that show your child. have respect for your girlfriend if she does not want to have a child with out being married. she has a good head on her shoulders if she wants to be married first. it's called family values!!!

I guess I don't understand why you would want to have a kid if you're not going to be totally devoted the would be mother. What's up with that? I suspect that you have a lot of growing up to do.

if you want to have a child why not give it a good start by marring it's mom??? being a parent is a great thing, but i can't see doing it alone.

yeah then you need to wait she is obviously not the one and i wouldnt chance it cuz if you break up she just might take the kid and you wont have her or the kid.

If you have talked this over with her and she is ohk with it, then there is nothing wrong.
If you haven't talked this out with her, I strongly suggest that you do.
