I'm only 12 weeks along and have a lot of back pain. But I don't want my lower half to look like a sack of cottage cheese.

It all depends what kind of shape you're in but Yoga for pregnancy is very good. It will help make you strong & stretch you, helping when you give birth.

I have heard that Pilates is the best exercise for after pregnancy. So I'm guessing that it would be great to do during pregnancy. Lunges are great for your butt and legs!! You may want to try brisk walking everyday too.
