The same part of the body is removed during female circumcision as is during male circumcision. So why is male circumcision allowed? Learn what is cut off Here http://www.norm.org/lost.html Its not just a piece of skin and its not just a simple slit, a quarter size piece of flesh is removed on a tiny infants penis, This is equal to a 3x5 index card of penile skin to an adult male often 50% or more of the penile skin is removed. And often since it is so small and hard to operate on more is removed then should have.

Hey people, give the guy a break; there IS a -type- of female circumcision that is actually just that = removal of clitoral hood, which is exactly analogous to male forskin; though yes, there are types which remove the clitoris too, he is referring to the less extensive type which is analgous. They are equally wrong (yes, removing clit and labia is much MUCH worse, as that would be equivalent to removing the glans of a penis too). How can strapping a 2 day old baby to a table and probing, crushing, and cutting his (or her) genitals without them knowing or consenting to what's going on be concidered anything other than sexual assault/battery and mutilation?

Unfortunately the explorers and anthropologists who first came across the operations done on females in some countries called the procedures 'circumcision', thus setting up confusion with male circumcision. TRUE female circumcision is a benign operation to simply remove the hood from the clitoris so as to allow more stimulation. That is the EXACT equivalent of male circumcision and is the only thing that OUGHT to be called female circumcision. What is usually called 'female circumcision' is indeed barbaric and designed to remove pleasure, consisting as it does in removal of the entire clitoris and labia - often with accompanying infibulation. The precesses have absolutely NO medical benefit - indeed they make childbirth more difficult and dangerous for both mother and child. Legislators in many countries have made laws to forbid this drastic mutilation of the female genitals. However, they have again used the incorrect terminology and defined it as 'female circumcision'. If they had properly studied the situation they would have used a different term and allowed genuine female circumcision (i.e. removal of the hood only) to remain legal. Male circumcision is legal because it causes no harm to the male and, in many cases, greatly improves sexual pleasure as well as always improving health.

As others have pointed out, these procedures are not equivalent. Female circumcision is indeed much worse. That does not make male circumcision okay. It is still mutilation, even if less extreme mutilation. It still causes pain and reduces sexual pleasure. It, too, should be outlawed.

Lots of boys don't wash behind their ears and the skin gets irritated from all the dirt. Would it be acceptable to cut off the ears of all male babies? After all, they can still hear with the internal parts of the ear, so it does no harm, right? And it would be much cleaner. Well, they would later have trouble keeping their glasses on, but that's not so important - they can always wear contacts instead.

What they call circumcision in females is a very, very different matter in females. It's debatable if the term is even accurate.

Female circumcision is a very RADICAL procedure that greatly lessens sex drive FOR LIFE and CAN'T BE REVERSED.

It involves removing a significant piece, if not all of the clitoris. Often other parts of the sexual anatomy are operated on. This is usually done AT HOME, without an anesthetic by the mother when the child is about 12. It is very dangerous.

Many steps have been taken to end this barbaric procedure. Unfortunately, it still goes on in mass in many parts of Africa. 97% of Egyptian women have had this done!

Female circumcision is practiced by mostly by AfricanMuslims, and it's not just a removal of a "little tissue" it involves hacking off the clitoris so the female will never or have minimal sexual feeling or orgasm,it also involves sewing closed the vagina, and the labia minora,to make sure she stays a virgin. Her husband will get the honors to TEAR her open on the wedding night. This is done when the girl is about 5 or6,in a filthy hut with no anesthesia, with a filthy razor blade, and a needle & thread. Many of these little girls die from infections or suffer the rest of their lives because of the horrific physical and emotional trauma. I hardly think you can compare the infant baby boy's procedure with this butchery. The procedure is illegal in the US for those reasons, but it does occur, those found out do get prosecuted. The debate whether the procedure is neccessary will never go away, its about religious preference, cleanliness,"looking" like other boy's and daddy.I've assisted with many newborn circumcisions over the years, and never seen what you've described. Babies are sedated,no doubt its hurts but I've also seen them sleeping through the procedure, and twice seen a stitch placed because of excessive bleeding. SW RNP

I suggest you research female circumcision on google.com.

These children are held down, fully awake, with some man cutting their vagina lips off, then the clit, and then sewing up their vagina so that their periods take 1/2 a month, instead of the usual 4-7 days.

The blades used are rarely sharp or cleaned. These girls, can be serveral different ages..it can vary, and are held down, screaming. In Europe it's illegal, but doesn't stop people from sneaking and doing it. It's torture. These kids are fully awake and alert.

One little girl I read an article about never talked after this. She was so tramatized.

Now, the only time the women are unsewn is when the husband breaks them open during the wedding. When the husband goes out on business, she's sewn back up again. Forget the fact that hubbies probably screwing around on her bringing back diseases. And the vaginal opening is unsewn to give birth..that's it, sex and birth.

Can you imagine the pain these people women endure? Now, you're probably not going through constant pain, but these women do. And they get no sexual pleasure at all. Most are treated badly. One little girl was married off at the age of 9 years old because her mother's new husband didn't want her.

And men can go through treatment to restretch the foreskin. Women can't. Nothing left.

Do your research.

One would guess that you are against circumsision in men and NOT prjojecting the idea that female circumsision is a good thing.
You have to know that female circ. is far mor barbaric and crippling than that of males and is only done to enhance male superiority over women. With that said, it has been practiced in civilized populations usually because of health or religeous reasons. Your mathamatical facts are quite a bit off target by the way.

There is always a parade of studies showing it prevents disease. But the method by which it does this is horrible. The circumcised male engage in less sex, and have less oral sex according to studies done in the middle east. The study was done on adults, some married.

Other common sense suggests an increase in disease because the mucus membrane is exposed and has dried out exposing small fissures in the tissue for disease ingress.

In the United States male Christians are circumcised. This came from the 19th century breakfast serial magnet Kellog. (king size jerk). Many Jews are beginning to stop the practice. It cannot be outlawed yet because of the religious rituals.

i don't know about the mens .. although your video was interesting.. but the reason it is illegal in the us and some other countries is .. mainly because when it happen to a female they remove the citloris.. thus leaving her incapable of enjoying sex.. yes she can do the deed .. but she feels no need.. and when that is done to a man he still enjoys sex

What in the world do you mean that the body part is removed? Women don't have foreskins.
1) Male circumcision is considered by many to be helpful as far as hygiene goes. This is the main reason that is given to encourage parents to have boys circumcised.
2) Female circumcision is mutilating and involves sewing up the vagina so that regular menses is more difficult.
3) Male circumcision is not done with the idea of decreasing pleasure during sexual intercourse. (I know that some men says it does, but that's not its purpose)
4) Female circumcision's primary purpose is to make intercourse unpleasant so that women will not want to seek out opportunities for sex.
