If I had my choice between a fracture and a bad sprain I would take the fracture any day of the week. Sprains take forever to get over and hurt like hell. Some kind of NSAID is the best thing for the pain (Advil, Motrin, Alleve, Ibuprofen) rather than Tylenol because they help with the inflammation. Unfortunately it will take a long time. I had a really bad sprain of my foot a couple of years ago and it still bothers me when I am on my feet a lot.

hi, an arnica cream or a comfrey based one may offer some faster healing(comfreys "old name" is knitbone! poultices were the way to go. however nowdays they worry about the fibres affecting skin..hmm it was not to be directly placed on. it is supposed to be crushed to a paste ,fresh leaves wrapped in cloth then placed over affected area, overnight if possible.
go with a cream its easier and more accessable. good luck

keep your finger in a immorible position for a about 2 weeks...then remove the cast..you don't want your fingers to stay that way. Meanwhile promote mobility with your fingers...It depnds on you and drink you milk..and vitamins...
