I'm looking into purchasing a laptop. I will mostly use it for writing and online courses. I do not know a thing about computers except for the basics, like web browsing, word, etc. Please help. I want to have as much information as possible. Thanks in advance.

for the purpose you want almost every basic laptop will do the job.
in a first step i did a preselection and have chosen the processor (Pentium M), the hard disk size (at least 60GB) and the number of USB ports (at least 3). what you should looking for is the Ram (not below 512mb, better is 1GB also noted as 1024mb).

Word processing takes very little processing power. I bet any computer on the market would server your purpose.
