I have often wondered this myself. I work in health care. I find that women are more open than men in general.

Because so many are taught that the sexual organs are "nasty" or dirty or they need to always hide them away, something that should not be shown to anyone. Mainly based on religious beliefs and teachings, and especially prevalent in the US.
