We are constantly being hit with objects from space so the mass should be more every day. But we are also sending objects into space often. So we loose mass because of them. But in general I think we do gain mass in general.

The Earth doesn't get lighter or heavier since the earth has no weight. The earth is getting more massive though. This is a subtle difference but difficult sometimes for us American to understand since we conflate the terms mass and weight.

The Earth gains up to 10^8 kg of mass each day consisting mostly of interplanetary dust and a few aliens (just kidding).

err
The Earth? The Earths weight can only be measured with respect to somewhere else. Since it is difficult to point to anywhere the earth exerts a pressure, it is constantly weightless, floating in space.

You could always look at the force of the Earth against your feet=the weight of you with respect to the earth. So if you are getting fatter, the earth is weighing more with respect to you.

or since the Earth is gaining mass, its gravitational pull is increasing making the weight of any particular bit of earth weigh more........ but not so as you would notice.

Yes we get hit by space debris all the time, but what about the items we put into space and the burning off fosil fuels which contribute alot to earth becomming lighter?

We gain tons of mass every day from cosmic dust.

At the Earth, generally, an average of 40 tons per day of extraterrestrial material falls to the Earth

I don't know. Earth gains mass by being hit by objects from space... but also loses mass by losing helium from the atmosphere. I suspect we're gaining mass a tad faster than losing it.

It is reckoned that about 100 tonnes of space debris rains on earth every day. This is dust and small meteorites.

heavier I think; as population increases and building work is completed, we manufacture more building materials, amd I think as we are 'collecting' matter that hits us too!
