Is Iran playing the US like a fine violin? Are they keeping the situation in Iraq at just enough of a boil to bog us down so they can do what they want too?

They may have been playing, but I think they're over that now. It isn't hard to see that Israel is taking Ahmadinejad's threats seriously. With the U.S. and lots of war machinery next door, they've gotten themselves backed into a corner and they know it.

Just as a humorous aside; Spell check gives "maidenhead"
for Ahmadinejad's name. ;-p (I thought it was funny)

That's an interesting take on the situation in the Middle East. As you probably realize, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is more of a figure head than any real authority - now more than ever, the real power in Iran lies with the Shiite clergy and their supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. I think we can be assured that Iran supports the Revolutionary Guard, Hezbollah, alQaeda, jiHad and Humas - as well as anyone who seeks the destruction or conversion of the infidels in the west and elsewhere.
They feel they have finally succeeded in offering their people an alternative to the "corrupt western way of life."
I'm sure they will do anything and everything they can to assure that the United States does not secure any kind of victory in Iraq - let alone succeed in helping the Iraqi people set up a democratic government.
I don't know if "being played" is the right phrase, but I'm sure we cannot trust the Iranian government to do anything but actively oppose our efforts in Iraq, and support all of those who resist our efforts.
