before I bought them I was told that this wouldn't be a problem because sheepskin has a natural quality not to make your feet sweat. Anyway, I've worn them without socks a couple times and now they smell sort of musty and stale, and not just if you stick your nose in them; sometimes like in class I wonder if someone can smell them. i hate it cause I love my UGGS!

Things like that are only to be worn where and when it is really cold. Sheep stink. You might be able to salvage them by using some foot powder and letting them air out for a long time.

omg thats kinda nasty...can u wash them?? if not spray febreeze in them and always wear socks with them for now on!!! maybe put baking soda on ur feet or baby powder !!
The UGG Australia web site recommends using cold water to hand wash your sheepskin or ugg boots -- hot water can damage them. They also recommend that you never put ugg boots in a washing machine, as this can permanently damage the sheepskin.

Additional precautions include not drying your sheepskin or ugg boots in a dryer, near a heat source, or in direct sunlight. Instead, stuff the sheepskin or ugg boots with paper towels, and let them dry naturally, away from heat. The towels will help the boots to keep their shape.

Some makers of sheepskin and ugg boots also offer products made specifically for cleaning, protecting and conditioning ugg boots. It is recommended that you find the manufacturer-recommended products for protecting your boots, as alternative products could damage them.

There are many foot powders that fight smell that you can put directly into the shoe.

It is not the sweat that is the problem, it is the dead skin cells that have collected in the shoes. You shed skin all day every day and socks help to "collect" it and remove it from the shoe. Bacteria love to eat these skin cells and it is the bacteria that smell. Your feet do sweat some, which makes a moist environment for the bacteria.

Wear socks. It is better for your feet as well as your shoes. Even a thin "dress sock" will help.

I use this in my son's shoes, and my work steel toes.

*Edit - forgot about telling you to air them out. People who have foot odor problems are told to alternate shoes daily to allow them to air out properly between wears. Don't wear them every day, but possibly every other day.

Febreeze "just the inside of the UGGS" so that it is damp and let them air dry (for at least a day) Febreeze is great for eliminating oders like in sofas, clothes and other fabrics just make sure u don't get the Febreeze air freshner there's a difference the air freshner is just for the air not for fabrics so good luck!

Whenever my shoes stink, I just put a tiny bit of baby powder in them and let them sit. That usually removes any stink that they have. (And I am a teenage guy so that can be a lot...) After that, just let them air out in a cool place and shake out all excess baby powder. Or keep it in there to keep your feet dry...
